Meet the 2022 Candidates

Veronica DePaoli (Incumbent)

Veronica DePaoli

My name is Veronica DePaoli. I have been a board member for the past 3 years. It has been a joy to be apart of this very productive board . I have been fortunate enough to have been assigned the position of bar chair. In the bar we have added new furniture, flooring, and soon will add a new dishwasher. The staff has been amazing to work with. They have really rolled with all that’s been thrown at them and have continued to always be a huge asset to the club. I have tried to make myself available to any member with questions or critiques about the club. And have had a very hands on roll moving furniture, putting furniture together, and helping clean bar area and kitchen in the transitions they have had this year. I have helped with repricing of bar items, and organizing new events for the clubI. I look forward to another 3 years of serving the members of Honesdale Golf Club and helping anyway I can to keep it the best nine hole golf course in the area.

Michael Motsko (Candidate)

Michael MotskoMy name is Michael Motsko, and I am humbled at the opportunity to run for the Honesdale Golf Club Board of Directors. I am the son of Ginny and the late George Motsko. I graduated from Honesdale High School in 2001, where I was a multi-sport athlete. After graduating from Honesdale, I attended East Stroudsburg University on an athletic scholarship to play Division II football. I graduated with a BA in Elementary/Special Education and earned a M.Ed from California University of Pennsylvania in Educational Leadership. I was employed as a special education teacher at North Pocono High School for 12 years before working in my current position as an Administrator in the curriculum department at the NEIU19.

I served on the HGC Board of Directors from 2015 to 2018 as the Bar Chairman, an experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. I am a progressive thinker and understand the need to garner new membership to support HGC’s fiscal goals. New and continuing membership is the foundation for a prosperous club. If elected to the Board, my goals will be to increase new membership, facilitate current member involvement, and foster an environment where our membership feels a deep connection to our proud HGC roots. To that end, I will act in a fiscally responsible manner while continuing to develop, execute, and maintain HGC’s strategic plan. I will work to implement best practices, identify areas of opportunity, and create open lines of communication between the Board and our valued staff. I will listen with an open mind to all members’ ideas and promote youth involvement in our beloved sport. My prior experience serving as a HGC Board member, coupled with the strong relationships that I have fostered over my lifetime with our HGC members, make me uniquely positioned to serve the interests of the HGC.

My wife and I welcomed our beautiful son, George, earlier this year. While I have numerous roles and responsibilities, being a father is my proudest. My own father brought me to the HGC as a young boy for lessons with the renowned Walter Markowski, and those early summer mornings instilled a solid fundamental foundation for the sport that I enjoy to this day. I cannot wait to share my love of the HGC with my son, just as my father did with me at a young age. It is with this renewed spirit of ensuring a prosperous Club for our future generations that I respectfully ask for your vote to the Board of Directors of the HGC.

As a medical professional, Dan continues to help guide the board through the COVID-19 crisis for the health and safety of our members and staff. From personal work history Dan is one of three partners in Synergy Orthopedics, a regional orthopedic supply company with over 85 employees. On a personal note, Dan is married to Kathy (Hollister) and has 2 children J.B. and Rylee. He is the son-in-law of Ben (Deceased) and Tammy Hollister.

Jeff Tamblyn (Candidate)

Jeff Tamblyn

My name is Jeff Tamblyn, and I am the son of Jim and Margie Tamblyn. I graduated from Honesdale High School in 2002, where I was a proud participant on the Boys’ Varsity Golf Team. In that capacity, I earned Lackawanna County 1st Team All-Star honors my junior and senior years. I was elected team captain my senior year. My desire to immerse myself in the sport of golf extended far beyond my high school accolades. Throughout high school, I was employed at Woodloch as a bag room attendant. Upon graduation, I traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona and worked at the renowned GreyHawk Golf Club in the pro shop, where I catered to the needs of many celebrities and professional PGA golfers. In this role, I learned to see the needs of the membership from a different perspective. It was an unbelievable experience that solidified my lifelong love of golf.

As a self-proclaimed “golf nut,” I am a member at multiple clubs in the local area; however, the HGC is my home course. I have earned multiple accolades as a member of HGC of which I am very proud. I hold three junior club championship titles, one member-guest title, and four member/member titles that I have had the pleasure of sharing with my brother Zach. However, I am still chasing that elusive overall club championship.

My love of our sport and appreciation for our Club inspired me to run for the Board of Directors in 2011. To that end, I served on the Board from 2011 to 2017 as the Social Chairman and later as the Greens Chairman. My responsibilities as the Greens Chairman ran the gamut, including regularly assisting our course staff with raking bunkers prior to the annual member-guest tournament. The importance of keeping a course in top shape cannot be overstated, as it is the cornerstone for garnering and maintaining club membership. I am also dedicated and well-suited to continuing to provide comprehensive club events and other tournaments at the HGC.

In addition to the success I have enjoyed on the greens, I also possess a deep-rooted appreciation of the hospitality aspect of our beloved sport. Through my overall pride for our Club, myriad of golf industry experience, and love of the game, I feel that I am an excellent candidate to serve on the Board. Accordingly, I respectfully ask for your vote to the Board of Directors of the HGC.
